RIO is at it again with another niche line that should be just the ticket for anglers looking for a line to fish chironomid patterns (among other things) in lakes.  Based on the description and the taper, RIO's InTouch Stillwater Floater looks like a great line for it.

Many anglers fish chironomids when the water is cold in lakes.  This has a good coldwater coating to keep the line from coiling.  It can be a very deadly method, but is also really boring to figure out.  Chironomids are very slow insects that do not move much when they are present.  They very slowly swim straight up the water column.  Often times, anglers will throw two chironomid patterns under a small indicator.  The hard part is now you are watching a bobber floating around in a lake.  When fishing is slow, it can be tough to watch for hours at a time.  There are a few methods for retrieval, but nothing that happens at any sort of decent speed.

So this line has a good chunk of weight starting at 9' from the front.  That should allow you to throw a small indicator and a long leader with a couple of snow cones.  This should be more than sufficient to throw a woolly bugger into the reeds or toss a callibaetis for the evening  hatch.  It should be able to handle a 12'+ leader as well.

The era of niche lines is in full swing.  This one is a good choice for lake junkies.  The InTouch core will allow some easy hook sets at distances.  It can make those subtle takes stick really effectively.  Give this line a try if you are love lake fishing and want to make the most of it.
