Many anglers fish chironomids when the water is cold in lakes. This has a good coldwater coating to keep the line from coiling. It can be a very deadly method, but is also really boring to figure out. Chironomids are very slow insects that do not move much when they are present. They very slowly swim straight up the water column. Often times, anglers will throw two chironomid patterns under a small indicator. The hard part is now you are watching a bobber floating around in a lake. When fishing is slow, it can be tough to watch for hours at a time. There are a few methods for retrieval, but nothing that happens at any sort of decent speed.
So this line has a good chunk of weight starting at 9' from the front. That should allow you to throw a small indicator and a long leader with a couple of snow cones.
