We have expanded our selection of Hanak products here in the shop. Their hooks have been selling well and receiving great feedback, so we have expanded the lineup to include a couple of rods, reels, leaders, and tippet rings/snaps.
You didn't even know that you needed this, but you will soon learn that you can't live without it. This is a 4 inch section of braided line that means that you don't have to buy indicator tippet any more. One end attaches to a leader, another is where the tippet goes. Poof, now you have a killer Euro nymph setup with little extra effort. We think that this little product is one of the more ingenious around.
This feels like a nice little nymph rod that has a great price point. These rods have a nice stiff bottom end with a really sensitive tip section, great for tight line nymphing. The components look good on the Wave Nymph rod. This rod includes a nice reel seat, minimalist paint job and good looking guides. The action is consistent with a good nymph rod, while the cork is comfortable in hand.
This rod has all the components of a nice rod without the big price tag. There are a few drawbacks. This rod is fairly heavy. It's not as heavy as other rods that I have fished, but this is certainly not the lightest rod out there. It is consistent with the price tag in that similar rods in similar price points are about the same weight.
This rod comes in 9', 9.5' and 10' models in both a 3wt or a 4wt version.. Most of the nymph-specific rods that we sell are 10' or longer, and I would suspect that these would be more popular if offered in a 10.5' or 11' model.
Overall, these rods have the quality and consistency to get the job done without breaking the bank. This is a great rod to get anglers into tight line or Euro/Czech style nymphing.
This rod looks and feels great. Top end components and a slick finish make this a contender in the Euro nymph world. This rod has a good taper on it to make Euro nymphing a breeze.
This rod is very lightweight, and the tip seems is very sensitive. Those factors alone make this a nice choice. Hanak has been one of the world leaders in the Czech/Euro nymph game, and now we carry the go-to rod for many of Europe's finest.
This isn't going to make a great multi-purpose rod, but it will be one of the finest nymph rods available. While it is only available in a 10' 3wt currently, it should be the one rod that will help you rule the stream.
Hanak Euro leaders are an interesting addition. There are two lengths, 15' and 30'. You can add sighter tippet after the leader, then throw on a tippet ring, some fine tippet and a couple of flies, or make your own custom set up. The material is nice and stiff, great for Euro fishing. The 15' models have a 3x section at the end, while the 30' models have a 1x section at the end. These are what Europe's top anglers are using for competition fishing now, and we are excited to get out and try them.
Tippet rings are becoming more and more popular. Save money on leaders by not having to cut them down every time you switch flies or add tippet. It is a great idea, and Hanak has some really nice, little tippet rings. The 2mm is the same as the smaller of the Rio and the Cortland, but the price tag falls a couple of dollars short of Rio and Cortland for the same amount. The drawback is that these are loose in a small plastic bag, so beware when you open them. You can always just put them right onto a micro snap...
These little snaps are the link between your fly and the tippet. You can quickly and easily change flies now without having to cut any tippet. Just unsnap a fly and snap on a new one. Two sizes to cover most of your bases. There is a similar product available from Rio, but these are easier to use than the Rio ones..
As always, thank you and please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Tight lines!
