Monic fly lines have been quietly making an impact in the fly fishing world for almost 25 years now.  Their original "Covert Clear" line was one of the first clear lines on the market and is still one of the best.

They use PVC-free materials, which are better for the environment and will last longer and include a larger range of temperature sensitivity, so you can use the same line in Belize and Alaska. PVC deteriorates and is not eco-friendly, so Monic has some solutions for us.

We are stocking four models here in the shop, and will expand if they are as popular as we think they will be:

Genesis Covert Clear Floating

Covert Clear

The flagship line from Monic, this boasts the highest flotation on the market, low-memory, as well as a floating hollow-core.  Again, PVC-free and environmentally friendly, this line can be used in the tropics and the Arctic. Unlike PVC clear lines, this one doesn't get sticky or pick up dirt when it gets wet.


Genesis Intermediate Clear

This is the same basic line as the Covert Clear Floating, but it sinks at a rate of 1"-2" per second, great for lake fishing, stocking permit on the flats and stripers off the coast of New York.  Same eco-friendly materials, hollow core, durability and temperature range.

GSP Skyline

Skyline GSP

Gel Spun Polyurethane is the strongest material with the lowest stretch rate available.  This line features the same coating and materials as the Genesis series, but with a GSP core.  That eliminates the ability to make a truly clear line, but it allows them to build a super low-stretch line, plus the sky blue color is pleasant.  It is an all-around fly line, and will support dry fly and nymph rigs equally.  This line has the same temperature range as the other lines, so you can fish the flats with the same line that you used for trout.

Impact

Impact
The Impact line uses a very expensive process to make this line out of Polyester.  Polyester is super soft and supple, will deteriorate much less than other materials, and will float like an ice cube in lemonade.  The eco-friendly process creates a very unique line with a great all around taper.  This line features an all-temperature rating, low stretch core and great flotation along with the eco-friendly materials.
