ARC fly lines, leader and tippet are in the showroom now at Big Y Fly Co. This innovative company is making some really high quality stuff. They know that as a small company, you have to do it better than the rest or you won't make it.We carry 3 ARC Fly Lines, along with their Fluorocoat Nylon Tippet and leaders.
All three of their lines feature ZNG technology. Z if for Zone; the line is slightly stiffer in the right spots to aid your cast. N is for Nano; the line uses Nano PFTE, a super slick material that is the absolute best thing to make a line out of. G is for Grooves; the line has ridges in it to reduce friction against the guides.
ARC 99 Fly Line is the line for 99% of situations. This is the go-to line for just about everything. Throw a dry fly in the riffle, then move to the deep pool and throw a crayfish pattern. It has everything you would expect in a premium line; welded loops with laser ID inscription, color change at the end of the head (from Straw to Mountain Sage), and a low stretch core. ARC 99+ Fly Line is a half size heavier than the ARC 99. It is built for those uber-fast rods that many anglers are sporting these days. It even has a similar color scheme, from Mountain Sage to Haystack.
ARC Dry Fly line features a longer front taper for better presentation of small dry flies. It has all of the same features of the other two lines, but is built just for presenting dries to picky fish. Graphite, bamboo or glass, it works on them all.
ARC Fluorocoat Tippet is a strong nylon tippet that is coated with fluorocarbon. ARC claims that this can increase knot strength, and I have no reason to doubt them. It has been incredibly popular so far and the reviews we have heard are good. 40 meter spools come in 0x-7x sizes for $7.95
ARC 99 Leaders have been just as popular as the tippet. A high strength co-polymer provides a leader that is great for 99% of trout fishing situations. We are, at the time of writing, only carrying 7.5' 3-packs in 3x-6x, but may be expanding if sales continue to grow.
