Here are some of the newest arrivals here at Big Y Fly Co. for May 2017!

Andino Deceiver Unweighted

Primarily a Dorado pattern to mimic sabalo, one of the Dorado's primary food sources.

It has been proven to be extremely effective against Peacock Bass.

Should work on pretty much any big fish targeting minnows, baitfish, etc.

Now unweighted for those needing minnows near the surface, or in the surf.

Chartreuse, Black, both available in #3/0.

Caddis are critical indicator of a rivers health, so what better name to bequeath to this new to Big Y pattern.
Much like our Caddis Emerger, this fly is tied on a curved hook with a peacock thorax, slight wings coming out the top and a soft hackle wrap in the front.
However, the coloration and tying of this fly a quite a bit different. How different? Well ask the fish.
The wings and hackling is grizzly and tied on pretty sparsely. The body is brown and thinly wrapped.
This pattern fishes well in lower and clearer water, especially is its smaller sizes.
The opposite is also true in its bigger sizes as long as you can get it near enough to the fish for them to notice its silhouette.

Foam Tick

An extremely effective bream pattern.
Crystal chenille/foam body and rubberlegs keep this pattern incredibly simplistic while creating attraction.
Easy to fish, legs create an seductive action.
Great Stillwater pattern for bream, bass, and trout alike.
Size 12

Great sockeye pattern.

Also works well in low/dirty water.

Fire Red, Orange, both in size #8

Due to the increasing popularity of our Beadhead Micro Stonefly, and customer request, we have added the Micro Stonefly Nymph.
If you have stones in your local waters than you are most likely well versed in the fly and maybe even the pattern.
The thing we really like about this pattern is it also doubles as a mayfly imitation.
Quite a few rivers have healthy stonefly population, but others have even healthier mayfly populations.
If you lift a rock in your local waters and see little black bugs crawling on it with long tails and long antenna, throw one of these on and you won’t be disappointed.
Available in Black, #14, 16, 18.

Mop Fly

From the Wall Street Journal, the Mop Fly.

We have been getting tons of requests for this fly and now here it is.

Tied in three hot colors (Chartreuse, Orange, Pink) on a small jig hook.

Size #12

A huge Musky pattern with tons of movement.

Pull it along the surface, or fish on a sink tip.

Also great for Peacock Bass and even some big largemouth bass.

Tied on two 5/0 stainless steel hooks to ensure it will withstand pressures from the biggest fish you can find.

Total fly length is roughly 8 inches.

#5/0 hook.

If the caddis haven’t started popping up in your local waters, they will soon.
And soon they (if they haven’t started already) they will be dancing along the surface of the water dropping their eggs of the next generation.
A moment a trout absolutely lives for.

An excellent mayfly imitation, this pattern is a great go to or searching pattern.
Much like a black Pheasant Tail it will fish well in waters that have been over pressured later in the season.
Silver ribbing and a flashback attract a fish’s attention from far off, while the natural characteristics of the body, thorax, and tail guarantee a strike.
