David with his first fish caught on the dry. This bow was caught on a undisclosed WA creek on a Green Drake. Fishing the dead drift with nymphs is how many of us learned to fish. However, while at times it can be the most effective, it is hard to bet the rush of seeing a trout leap out of the water to gobble down your dry fly. When the fishing is good dries can be some of the most exciting things to do with a fly rod.

Jeffery submitted this pic of his customer Roger catching a 24'" trout using a size 20 Parachute Adams on the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park, WY. When it is cold out, the insects aren't moving, and hatches are too few. Midges and BWOs are the way to go if your are looking for some top water action. Many think that means specifically midge patterns, but really most flies available in a size 18 or smaller will do the trick with 20s and 22s being the sweet spot. So next time your looking threw your box looking for that blue dun midge, grab a 20 parachute adams and hold on.

Ken with a huge Brown Trout caught using an egg pattern in Alcott, NY. Fish love eggs. Many trout will sit behind spawning salmon or steelhead and eat the eggs that get flushed downstream. Using egg patterns during late fall/early winter can be far more productive in certain rivers/streams than any other dry or nymph available. If you find yourself hitting a wall come this time of year try reaching for a glo bug.

Pete snapped this picture while fishing the McKenzie River in OR after this BH Soft Hackle had been chomped on by a couple trout. With our flies being so cheap many people are skeptical of the quality. Truth of the matter is our flies hold up with the best of them. Many of our customers with attest to the same. If you ever have an issue with one of our flies please feel free to shoot us a email so we can make it right.
