We at Big Y were looking to expand our current line of fly rods and offer a higher end rod, but still one that was affordable. The price point of these rods make them an exceptional value when compared with similar performing fly rods. Beulah's Platinum series rods are an excellent choice for anyone in the market for a top-shelf fly rod. The high quality blanks that Beulah has developed utilize some of the finest materials and techniques in manufacturing. The Platinum series have the best blank consistency we've seen and almost unmatched weight characteristics.
Having fished these rods extensively prior to bringing them aboard for retail, it is clear that their performance is favored over others. With a large array of fly rods to choose from when the staff heads out for the water, it has been the Beulah which gets the first cast; casting these rods is a true joy. The flex that these rods transmit down to the butt section makes for a great feeling when loading for a cast. The Single, Two-Handed Spey, & Switch Platinum series have brought everything to the table and left nothing behind.
Beulah has also created a series of fly lines specifically designed for their Spey & Switch series fly rods. The Elixir is a Scandinavian style head that is designed for surface techniques and light sink tips. The Elixir is meant for 10-13 foot Poly leaders, up to a type 6 and isn't intended for flies larger than a size 2. The Tonic line is a compact Skagit style line designed to be a workhorse for casting heavy sink tips and large flies. Both of these lines are offered in a Switch or Spey lengths. Apart from their performance, Beulah has hit it out of the park with regards to aesthetics. These fly rods are works of art and stand shoulders above most. From the Portuguese cork which is lathe-tuned on the blank with rubberized cork accents; incredible epoxy work and beautiful wraps these rods mirror closely only top-end custom rods but at a fraction of the price.
