nice rainbow in the dead of winter. Snow on the banks and ice on the
edge of the Missouri River in MT. This guy was caught on a Clouser Mini
Sunfish, using the swing technique. Just gos to show that baitfish and
sculpin patterns are a great way to entice fish when there isn't a hatch
going on.
John sent over this monster trout caught near Memphis TN. He was fishing with a Conehead Woolly Bugger Rubber Legs, during late fall. Again showing that streamer patterns will pull in the big guys, especially late in the season.
We get calls or emails every once in awhile with customers asking for patterns that are very geographically specific. The Beadhead Chilean Bugger is one of them, developed to catch big trout in South America. Roger took a trip down there last year and took a couple of these flies with him. The results are posted above. Just goes the show that local favorites can be the difference between a slow day and a great one.
We have all been on that trip where one guy is catching all the fish and everyone else asks the same question "What are you using". For Kevin and his friends the magic fly was the Crystal Egg. They were fishing the Salmon River in NY. All of them pulled in a nice Salmon or Steelhead and all were caught using a Crystal Egg.
