 | Bead Back Scud -Scuds or Freshwater Shrimp are a vital food source for trout. Living in slack waters of rivers, they are the #1 food source in many lakes that hold trophy sized trout. Scuds move in short 6-12 inch spurts and fishing techniques should mimic this. These are tied to closely resemble the Gammarus, the most important species to fly fishers. Beads are used to make up the body, adding weight and a more realistic/segmented body. Currently available in size 12. |

Bird Of Prey-Beadhead - Like so many other caddis emerger patterns this guy is tied in tan, on a scud hook, peacock thorax, ribbing, and hackle. Some do have a tail, others don’t, this one in particular does. A staple in many fly boxes, the Beadhead Bird of Prey is not only a great caddis pattern, but also a great searching pattern. Trout and steelhead alike will readily hammer these guys no matter the season. Great during a caddis hatch, or during a frustrating day of fishing trying to figure out what they are looking for. Currently available in tan and in sizes 12 and 14.

Chironomid Bomber -A chironomid pupa pattern, meant to replicate emergering chironomids. Extremely popular in the high lakes of Oregon and Colorado, this simplistic pattern is responsible for catching thousands of fat trout. Fish during midge hatches, especially useful during mid hatch. Also an extremely effective winter trout pattern. When midges emerger they rise straight to the surface, replicating this action will insure a strike. Currently available in sizes 10, 12, and 14.

Conehead Epoxy Stone - These guys are monsters that pack a punch, if you don't catch a fish with one of these bad boys it is because the fish are scared of it. Great for steelhead and trout, fish during salmon fly hatches or in the thick of your favorite steelhead run. Epoxy back adds attraction and protection, shines giving it that emergence look, while giving your fly a hard shield against aggressive strikes. Currently available in size 4 and in colors black and brown.

Cosmo Gordon -Atlantic Salmon fly pattern originating from the Victorian period. Many versions of this fly have spawned since its inventions, mostly do to materials available at the time. A must when fishing for Atlantic Salmon, especially when in European countries. Currently available in size 8.

Darth Vader - In a galaxy far far away…. No, but in all seriousness. This Darth Vader is a generic nymph pattern that was formed with no real purpose in mind other than to get it down quickly. Many suggest it has a stonefly profile, personally I think more of dragonfly larva, but to each their own. Great in both river and lakes, with a classic slender body and tied all black, hard to not throw one of these on as a searching pattern also. Right colors and body type to attach most fish. Currently available in size 8, 10, 12, and 14.

Eat Me Bugger - Eat Me Bugger takes the best combinations of a Mohair Leech and a Conehead Woolly Bugger. A favorite among CO lake fisherman, and are known for catching monster trout. Olive is a lake favorite as it seems to be the best color for stillwater, whereas brown can mimic a crawdad and is highly effective in streams. Currently available in size 4 and colors olive and brown.

Green Ass McGee -Like most old patterns, the origins of this fly are a little foggy. Thought to originate on Pine Creek in PA. Old timers refer to it simple as a "McGee" and usually fish it in tandem with a Muddler Minnow. Extremely popular in streams particularly those located in the New England region. Currently available in sizes 10 and 12.

Iron Sally-Beadhead - A Yellow Sally is probably one of the most iconic flies out there, it is right up there with Adams, BWO, and Royal Wulff. All for good reason, it catches fish. Meet the nymph version of the Yellow Sally, the Iron Sally. A beadhead and wire wrapped body, insure this fly gets done and dirty quickly. Little Yellow Stones can be found in most rivers, making these guys a great pattern anytime of the year. Currently available in sizes 14, and 16.

Middle Bead Scud - Scuds are perhaps one of the most common, and simplest of all the insects that fly fisherman try to imitate. They hatch, swim, breed, and die, more or less. They look basically the same from the time they hatch till the time they die. Making imitation and “matching the hatch” incredibly easy. Middle Bead Scud is exactly as the name sounds (again going simplistic here) a scud with the bead located in the middle of the body. The benefit of this is it puts the bead at the highest part of the hook. This allows the fly to sink and be stripped in more naturally. A great and highly effective lake pattern. Currently available in olive in sizes 14 and 16.

Soft Hackle Biot PMD - A soft hackle wet flies are extremely popular and effective in the hands of the right user. This PMD imitation is great during mayfly and/or Pale Morning Dun hatches. Bead in the middle gives this pattern some weight to help get it down faster. Currently available in sizes 14 and 16.
